Can anyone be appointed a Charity trustee?
No is the short answer - there are legal restrictions on who can take on the role of a charity trustee.
As set out in the Government's own excellent publication "Finding new trustees: what charities need to know", additional restrictions may also be contained in the charity’s governing document.
The trustee board must make sure that the appointment meets the requirements of the charity’s governing document and the law before making the appointment.
It is important that trustees follow procedures since a failure to do so could result in the appointment being invalid. BoardSecure takes away the pain of making many of these checks with the processes that we have built into the platform - to see more why not set-up an account today?
